DECEMBER CLIENT OF THE MONTH! LIZZIE :D
Lizzie started with us back in January, almost a full year ago now. I remember chatting to her on the phone between Christ,as and New year whilst she was in a rock pool. She said she wanted to incorporate some weight into her work outs as this is something she had never done before. I remember vividly our first 8 weeks of training her technique was pretty bad and was certainly making me put the work in on correcting it.
Who would have though just 6 months later she was scouted then sponsored by North London Athletics because of her fab results achieved in half marathons. Since then they have only gotten faster and Lizzie lives by her training bible to the syllable.
She is totally dedicated to everything she must do, if that means getting up at 4.30am to get a track session in before a full day of work followed by a 1-2-1 in the studio in the evening straight after teaching kids all day then so be it!…and still has a smile on her face.
When did you Start and why?
I started training at Ocean Fit in January 2017. I’ve always been active and enjoyed running and gymnastics, as well as boxing, but I wanted to incorporate weight training seriously into my exercise routine alongside all the cardio and knew I’d need some help
What do you enjoy the most over all about being involved?
The environment and the people that make up Ocean Fit are amazing, such a welcoming and supportive group. I don’t think there’s a class or exercise programme here that I haven’t taken part in!! and each time all the Beach, Group PT, Fit Camp and Boxercise regulars have always made me feel so welcome and at ease. I always look forward to my training sessions and leave with a smile, knowing that I’m working towards my goals.
What made you choose Ocean Fit:
I was looking for a change from the commercial gyms I’d previously been a member of as well as something that was local and walkable from home. I stumbled across the studio on Facebook, used the contact page to send Aaron an email and the rest is history! It’s crazy to think that this time last year I wasn’t even a member and now it’s my second home!
What is your biggest achievement:
Achieving my quickest 5km and half marathon times earlier this year was amazing and showed that all our work on endurance and speed really paid off.
What is your favourite exercise or move & why?
Definitely the prowler!! It’s so versatile, perfect for building upper and lower body strength with a healthy dose of cardio thrown in. However Aaron incorporates it into my training, either by itself as a heavy push/pull or as part of a circuit with lunges or rope pulls, it reminds me that all you have to do to keep going is put one foot in front of the other and keep moving, no matter how slow or fast.
What is your LEAST favourite exercise & why?
This is so hard because honestly I enjoy everything and anything but lateral raises never fail to make me shed a tear!
Would you recommend Ocean Fit to a friend and why?
Definitely! I love that the studio has a variety of exercising opportunities, regardless of your fitness level, previous experience or preferred way to exercise there really is something for everyone. Having dragged friends along to Clubbercise, Abs class and Boxercise they always leave feeling energised and have enjoyed the session.
Whats your favourite thing to cook?
Chicken grilled in sweet chilli sauce with stir fry veg. Quick, one cooking tray (less washing up is always a bonus) and plenty left for lunch the next day!
