Well, this is a first for Ocean Fit. I was on a run a good few weeks back, thinking about how determined bad ass Rachel is in sessions (not weird at all).
Rachel and Chris have been doing 1-1 at Ocean Fit with myself ( Aaron) for around 2 years now. They sat down and said they wanted to be challenged in their sessions, which is what I aim to do every single week. They both rise to the occasion without fail each week (although questionable at times) and give each session 200%.
This time last year Rachel told me she was pregnant but still wanted to continue with her sessions until the last minute, and this she did. Although we slowed things down a lot of the weeks went on, she was still do everything she could, was allowed to and felt comfortable with. 3 days before she gave give she was whipping the prowler up and down the track as I followed with a bundle of towels.
After giving birth Rachel was straight back in action…well 8 weeks later and it didn’t take long for her to get back up to scratch, taking on challenges, dissing Chris and talking the talk about how she will ‘smash it’ next weekRachel and Chris work so hard  and have always been such good people to work with, every session is full of laughter, sweat and Chris talking about his groin.  A total pleasure to work with.

NAME: Rachael
PROGRAMME: 1-1 Personal Training

1-1 Personal Training Client from Ocean Fit Whitley Bay

1.How do you feel to be crowned Ocean Fit’s Client of the YEAR?

Pretty chuffed actually! I’d see people get given client of the month and wonder what on earth you had to do to get it! I pretty much kill myself every session already so I was in awe of those that won it.

2.What does a session at Ocean Fit look like to you?
Everyone says this so it sounds cliched but it is different each week (yet each week always features a chat and a joke (I am being polite here haha) with Aaron). In the 2 years+ that we have been doing 1-1 sessions, I don’t think I have ever had any sessions that are the same. I always say to my husband when I have finished the session that I didn’t think about anything else at all for those 45 minutes and for me the ability to switch off totally and have a complete workout is priceless.

3.Why did you choose Ocean Fit?
If I am being perfectly honest, at the start it was the location and ease to get to. If you ask me why did I stay with ocean fit, it’s down to the type of workouts and the laugh we have when there with Aaron.
4.What do you enjoy most about being part of Ocean Fit?
As I said above the chance to switch off yet have a thorough work out. I always challenge Aaron to make sure I have DOMS the next day. I have done workouts here that I have not done in other gyms and been pushed beyond limits we never even knew we had. I also love a challenge as I am very competitive (only if it is something I think I can win though!) and Aaron always comes up with some tough ones.
5.What’s your favourite post-workout snack or meal ?
I know I am meant to say something here about a very healthy option with a balanced range of macro nutrients etc but in reality it’s a Thursday night so if the kids have been a nightmare it is either a dominoes or a huge bowl of pasta! In all seriousness, I love my food so I will always eat what I want. I just make sure to work extra hard in a session if it’s not the healthiest of choices.

6.If you could banish one exercise from sessions, what would it be, and WHY?
Do you know what, there isn’t anything I really hate. I actually like most of the exercises. If I had to pick one it would be a bear crawl though. I just find them annoying!

7.Apart from being crowned Client of the YEAR (of course), what is your biggest achievement at Ocean Fit?
My biggest achievement is not having my daughter at ocean fit- my waters went two days after a tough prowler session! The big achievement though is training with Ocean Fit throughout my whole pregnancy, from the positive test result and the whole 8 months then returning 8 weeks after her birth to take on a ski-erg challenge. Aaron was fully supportive and adapted things for me and it was great being able to train throughout my pregnancy and stay fit and healthy throughout.
8.What is your next big fitness goal?
My next big goal is to continue on my post-natal journey back to fitness. I am still heavier than I was pre baby (though that could be the weekly dominoes!) so for me personally, it is about feeling fit and comfortable in my own skin.
Not competitive at all !
Not competitive at all !
9.What is your funniest memory from Ocean Fit?
Hahahah, I still laugh at this one..my husband and I train together, it is our equivalent of a date night. Anyway, we were doing a ski challenge and my husband was going for it when he reached the wall and fainted. He fell backwards off the machine and into Aaron’s arms! He then disappeared to the toilet to be sick! I have never let him live it down.
10. Would you recommend Ocean Fit to a friend?
